Andy Lau and Aaron Kwok to star in a detective movie The big budget project is said to star Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Ka-fei:

Yesterday, EDKO Film Ltd announced that they will be investing close to a billion Hong Kong dollars to produce Cold War. This also put an end to rumours that there will be a remake of the movie Infernal Affairs.
The movie is scheduled to begin shooting in Hong Kong later this month and will star Best Actor award winners Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Ka-fei.
Andy, who previously starred in the Infernal Affairs series, expressed, "I'm happy to be part of Cold War. Infernal Affairs is a classic movie about the battle of wits between cops and robbers 10 years ago. I hope Cold War will be able to set a new benchmark for Hong Kong detective movies in the coming decade."
It is believed that Aaron had rejected the movie earlier, because he needed to prepare for his concert in December. However, after reading the script, he was so captivated, that he postponed the rehearsal of his concert instead.
Meanwhile, Tony, who is currently in the midst of filming a drama series, was also said to have taken leave from the production to participate in Cold War.
Other actors involved in the production include actors Aarif Lee and Eddie Peng. Many of those participating in the movie also exclaimed that there had not been a script as good as this one in Hong Kong for years.
Responding to the public's comparison between Cold War and Infernal Affairs, EDKO Film expressed, "There's no need to compare the two films. Only the story structure is similar to that of Infernal Affairs."

Hmmm ein gutes Script allein macht noch nicht unbedingt auch einen guten Film. Der Cast liest sich natürlich wunderbar und so große Töne hat man schon länger nicht mehr gehört.
Trotzdem. In den Händen eines Andrew Lau, Alan Mak oder Felix Chong wäre das wohl eine sicherere Nummer...
Bin mal gespannt. Und für einen möglichen Teil 2 dann bitte noch den Rest der Rasselbande (Francis Ng, Eric Tsang und Anthony Wong) aus dem Hut ziehen!

Vielleicht ein Anfang. Zumindest scheint sich 2012 in der Planungsphase zusaetzlich einiges Interessantes zu befinden. Dante Lams Moscow Mission, Overheard 3, ein Bride with White Hair Update von Jacob Cheung und ein re-telling von Tracks in the Snowy Forest, inszeniert von Tsui Hark.

Andy Lau nicht am Poster... was mag das heißen? Nur ein Cameo, oder der Bad Guy?
Cold War was directed by Liang Yue-ming and Sunny Luk who had worked hard for many years in Hong Kong film industry, film producer William Kong exclaimed that he was excited when he read the script and decided to invest to make it into a “large scale” crime thriller. With that in mind, he invited Andy to join the cast, however the filming period collide with Andy’s wife pregnancy thus resulting him only cameo in the film. Despite this, Andy’s support for Cold War did not reduce as he think that the story is larger and have more entertainment value when compared to Infernal Affairs.
“Firstly said, I’m not the main lead, my appearance now is to show support to these group of people’s enthusiasm, from William Kong to the two directors willing to contribute for Hong Kong films. Initially I wanted to play more part in this film, but no choice, due to family matters, I’ve no time for it, many apologies, hope everyone can understand, I only shoot for one day.”
Sieht gut aus, und ich hoffe, dass der Film auch einschlägt. Was nach Infernal Affairs kam, war bis auf wenige Ausnahmen wie evtl. Colour of the Truth ja alles relativ rar und zumindest in Sachen Action öde; selbst die noch besseren Wo Hu und Colour of Loyalty.
COLD WAR ist ziemlich super. Teilweise ertappte ich mich tatsächlich dabei, in Gefühlen zu schwelgen, wie ich sie beim Ansehen von HK-Filmen aus der guten alten Zeit habe. Interessant ist, das ein eigentliches Nichts an Geschichte ziemlich spannend aufgebaut und aberzählt wird. Die CGI-Explosionen- und Effekte sehen jedoch wieder - der Natur der Sache geschuldet - doof aus. Isses so schwierig, mal eine echte alte Karre in die Luft zu jagen? Ansonsten tatsächlich das Beste aus Hongkong seit vielen Monden.
Lau sieht man exakt 32 Sekunden im Film. Getoppt nur noch von Michael Fitzgerald Wong - den sieht man 22 Sekunden.
Gestern den Trailer im Fernsehen gesehen und dachte, toll, den schau ich mir mal im Kino an. Da seh ich hier, daß der schon ne Weile alt ist und nun vermutlich im Fernsehen kommt. Könnten sie ja auch mal dabeischreiben, nichtmal den Kanal und die Zeit haben sie genannt. (War das jetzt AXN? Star? Mist, vergessen) Aber nach der Kritik hier scheint er ja gut zu sein. Werden heute abend mal zappen.
